Ever since his breakthrough campaign for Tottenham Hotspur more than a decade ago, Kane has consistently plundered goals at an exceptional rate. His deadly accuracy when within shooting range is almost otherworldly. Kane can rifle in shots with both feet with astonishing precision, and appears to have an innate understanding of when to utilise power or finesse. He is superb in the air, too, a quality underlined by the fact he holds the record for most headed Premier League goals in a season (10), which he set in 2022/23.

Kane is also a fabulous passer, equally capable of playing defence-splitting through-balls or feeding team-mates with raking long-range deliveries.

He has racked up a host of individual honours, including the adidas Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Kane has also topped the goalscoring charts in the Premier League (three times), the Bundesliga (twice) and the UEFA EURO.

At club level, Kane won his first major title in 2024/25 when he fired Bayern Munich to the Bundesliga title. With England, he has been a runner-up at the EURO in the 2020 and 2024 editions, and was part of the team which finished fourth at Russia 2018.

Kane attended Chingford Foundation School in North London, where England legend David Beckham had previously been a student.

While Kane went on to become a Tottenham legend and the club’s record scorer, he spent time at the academy of fierce rivals Arsenal as a youngster. He was released by the Gunners after one season.

Kane played as a goalkeeper for the final minutes of a Europa League game in 2014. When Hugo Lloris was sent off against Asteras Tripolis, the striker volunteered to don the gloves as Spurs had no substitutions remaining. While Kane subsequently fumbled a free-kick into the net, he’d earlier scored a hat-trick and Tottenham won the game 5-1.

Kane has discussed becoming an NFL kicker when he calls time on his football career, stating last year it is "always something that's in the back of my mind”. Legendary Kansas City Chiefs punter and Super Bowl winner Dustin Colquitt has offered to assist him in making the transition.

Kane’s first World Cup experience came at Russia 2018 and he wasted no time in making his mark. In his first appearance at the global showpiece, he netted a double in a 2-1 win over Tunisia. A hat-trick followed as Panama were trounced 6-1 and he was on target again as the Three Lions drew 1-1 against Colombia in the Round of 16, before progressing on penalties.

England went on to finish fourth, suffering a dramatic extra-time defeat against Croatia in the semi-finals before losing out to Belgium in the play-off for third place. While Kane didn’t net again in the knockouts after his effort against Colombia, his six strikes were enough to earn the Golden Boot.

Kane also led England’s attack at Qatar 2022 and, after providing three assists as England cruised through the group stage, opened his goalscoring account in a 3-0 last-16 victory over Senegal. The quarter-final against France brought a moment of jubilation for England’s No9 but ultimately ended in heartache. After Aurelien Tchouameni had put Les Bleus ahead, Kane’s emphatic penalty drew his team level. Olivier Giroud’s header re-established France’s advantage, but Kane had a golden chance to equalise late in the piece when England were awarded another spot-kick. This time, however, his effort went over the crossbar and France held on to secure victory.

England will head to North America as one of the favourites to lift the trophy in New York New Jersey on 19 July. The Three Lions have gone from strength to strength under coach Thomas Tuchel’s leadership, producing increasingly convincing performances. They dominated their World Cup qualifying group, winning all eight matches and going through the entirety of their campaign without conceding a goal.

In Kane, of course, England have a world-class operator as the focal point of their frontline. The Three Lions skipper is ably supported by other elite performers such as Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka. If Kane and Co hit their stride, they could be hard to stop.
